Özet
Bu çalışma, Türkiye'deki toplumsal sınıfların ve sınıfsal hareketlilik dinamiklerinin bir değerlendirmesini sunmaktadır. Çalışma, Berkun Oya’nın eserlerini sosyolojik bir mercek altına alarak toplumsal sermaye ve kültürel sermayenin sınıfsal farklılıkların belirlenmesindeki etkisini ve bu iki sermaye biçiminin sınıfsal hareketlilik üzerindeki rolünü incelemektedir. Çalışmanın kavramsal çerçevesi Bourdieu’nun sermaye biçimleri ile Foucault’nun söylem, kimlik ve iktidar kavramlarına dayanmaktadır. Doğu-Batı, modern-muhafazakâr gibi ikiliklerin Türkiye’deki sınıfsallık üzerindeki etkisi tartışılmıştır. Özellikle, toplumsal ve kültürel sermaye sahipliğinin Türkiye’de sınıfsal hareketlilikte belirleyici bir rol oynadığı öne sürülmüştür. Berkun Oya’nın eserlerinde kimlik çatışmaları ve bireylerin toplumsal hiyerarşideki konumlarıyla ilişkilendirilebilecek anlatılar, Türkiye’nin sınıfsal yapısına dair bir inceleme fırsatı sunmuştur.
This study presents an assessment of social classes and class mobility dynamics in Turkey. The study examines the effects of social capital and cultural capital in determining class differences and the role of these two forms of capital on class mobility by taking Berkun Oya’s works under a sociological lens. The conceptual framework of the study is based on Bourdieu’s forms of capital and Foucault’s concepts of discourse, identity and power. The effects of dichotomies such as East-West, modern-conservative on class in Turkey are discussed. In particular, it is argued that the possession of social and cultural capital plays a decisive role in class mobility in Turkey. The identity conflicts in Berkun Oya’s works and the narratives that can be associated with individuals’ positions in the social hierarchy provide an opportunity to examine the class structure of Turkey.
