Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı ebeveyn odaklı ebeveynleşme, kardeş odaklı ebeveynleşme ve ebeveynleşmeden algılanan yararın kariyer kararı öz-yeterliği ile ilişkisinde savunma biçimlerinin aracı rolünü incelemektir.
Çalışmanın örneklemini İstanbul’da iki vakıf üniversitesinde psikoloji bölümünde okuyan, yaşları 18-42 arasında değişen 285 kadın ve 33 erkek, toplam 318 gönüllü katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Veriler Sosyo-Demografik Bilgi Formu, Ebeveynleşme Envanteri, Savunma Biçimleri Testi ve Kariyer Kararı Öz-Yeterliği Ölçeği-Kısa Formu ile toplanmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda ebeveyn odaklı ebeveynleşme ile kariyer kararı öz-yeterliği ilişkisinde olgun ve immatür savunma biçimlerinin aracı etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Kardeş odaklı ebeveynleşme ile kariyer kararı öz-yeterliği ilişkisinde de olgun ve immatür savunma biçimleri aracı etkiye sahiptir. Ebeveynleşmeden algılanan yarar ile kariyer kararı öz-yeterliği ilişkisinde immatür savunma biçiminin aracılığı vardır. Literatürde kariyer kararı öz-yeterliğine aile ilişkileriyle ilgili değişkenlerin etkileri araştırılmış ancak ebeveynleşme ile ilişkisi incelenmemiştir. Bu çalışmanın önemi ebeveynleşmenin kariyer kararı öz-yeterliğini nasıl etkileyebildiğine dair bir model test etmiş olmasıdır.
The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of defense styles on the relationship between parent-focused parentification, sibling-focused parentification, perceived benefits from parentification and career decision-making self-efficacy. The sample of the study consists of a total of 318 participants, 285 women and 33 men, aged between 18-42, studying psychology at two private universities in Istanbul. Data were collected with the Socio-Demographic Information Form, Parentification Inventory, Defense Styles Test and Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form. As a result of the analyses, it was seen that mature and immature defense styles had a mediating effect on the relationship between parent-focused parentification and career decision-making self-efficacy. Mature and immature defense styles also have a mediating effect in the relationship between sibling-focused parentification and career decision-making self-efficacy. Immature defense style has a mediating role in the relationship between perceived benefit from parentification and career decision-making self-efficacy. In the literature, the effects of variables related to family relationships on career decision-making self-efficacy have been investigated, but the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy and parentification has not been examined. The importance of this study is that it tested a model of how parentification can affect career decision-making self-efficacy.
