Yayın Evidence-based individualized care practices(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2019) Demirel, Nehir; Turan, NurayAIM AND INTRODUCTION: The presented work has been compiled to explore the definition of individualized care concept and evidence-based practices and to raise awareness about the issue. Nursing, who the individual considered a whole with all dimensions, aims to ensure the wellbeing of the individual family and society, to preserve health, to prevent disease, to improve the condition of illness, aims to teach and facilitate ways of coping. The discipline that adopts care as a professional obligation is nursing. When nursing takes care as a professional obligation, care becomes more special. Care, when an individual’s health protection, development, and deviation from health, for purpose of improvement is a series of belief, values, attitudes, behaviors, and actions. In the case of health, disease, and needs, individual differences cannot be excluded and require individualized nursing care. METHODOLOGY: National and international articles were scanned using individualized care and nursing keywords. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In 1960, individualized care comes up in nursing literature. Individualized care is a type of nursing care that takes into accounts the individual characteristics and preferences of patients and encourages the consideration of the patient’s ideas in decisionmaking. Patients think that their individuality is truly recognized and taken into account as long as individual care is applied in a consistent care relationship. As a result, patients have a successful recovery in rehabilitation and their satisfaction levels increase as well. An international study conducted in 11 countries reported that 96% of nurses spend more time with individual patients, that is, individual recognition facilitates individualization and has a significant positive impact on the patient. Can (2013) emphasizes that individualized care perceptions are also positively affected as the perceptions of the professional values of nurses increase. Also, Özdemir (2015) emphasizes that nurses with high empathic tendencies are positively affected by individualized care perceptions. Firstly, nurses and nursing students must learn about the patient as a unique individual for individual care to be used. Then nursing interventions can plan and implement according to the patient’s specific requirements, needs, and abilities. In conclusion, the implementation of individualized care can be realized by the nurses giving importance to the personal preferences of the patients, seeing the individual as unique and sole, and providing individualized care in nursing education.Yayın Relationship between individualized care perception and innovativeness among final-year nursing students(Wiley, 2020) Demirel, Nehir; Turan, NurayPurpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between individualized care (IC) perceptions and innovativeness among final-year nursing students. Design and Methods The population of this analytical study consisted of 230 students. Data were collected using a student information form (individualized care scale [ICS]-nurse version, individual innovativeness). Data analysis was carried out using descriptive, comparative, correlational, and stepwise regression analysis statistics. Findings Nursing students had a high perception of IC and an early majority level of innovativeness. As their innovativeness levels increased, their perceptions of IC also increased. There was a positive correlation between the total ICS-A-nurse score and the individual innovativeness scale/openness to experience subscale. In regression analysis, the individual innovativeness total increased IC. Practice Implications Courses and practical work should be organized for students to raise their awareness of IC and to increase their innovativeness.
