dc.description.abstractOriginally, when we were giving a first course in probability to students reading for a degree in computing at Dublin City University, we used to think we were doing a good job; the students seemed happy enough. And then came the end-of-semester assessment forms: ”too many formulae”, ”not relevant to computing” , and -worst of all - ”just another maths course”. So we had to do something about it; we turned to R for help.en_US
