Yayın Preventing violence in health and nursing(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2020) Basrieva, Elis; Nail, Osman; Ankova, SimonaSummary: Violence against health care workers is an unfortunately common event. Workers in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare settings face significant risks of workplace violence. According to “Occupational Safety and Health Administration” , “ the healthcare accounts for nearly as many serious violent injuries as all other industries combined.”. Violence can be prevented. In order to take adequate prevention measures, it is undoubtedly important to identify the causes and factors that contribute to their existence. Goal: We analyze prevention as a leading factor in protecting medical staff from violence. Materials and Methods: document method – analysis of literary sources Introduction: The strategies for reducing the level of workplace violence are aimed at: • improving reducing paid health services; • simplifying the procedures related to examinations by specialists; • creating additional health insurance funds; • technical safety and timely response of the security authorities. • Emphasis is also placed on the importance of taking and implementing such measures in the workplace, such as: • preventative and security and control measures; • improving the organization of working conditions; • training staff to work with the risk contingent and how to recognize and deal with aggressive behaviour; • medical and psychological counselling and assistance to victims of violence; • administrative sanctioning measures. Results and Discussion: The purpose of this research was to identify the risk factors of violence against healthcare workers and methods to prevent violence against health care specialist.
